In 2024, Ben suffered a stroke and showed incredible strength during his recovery. In May 2025, I experienced a stroke of my own. Both of us faced strokes in our mid 30s, something most people never expect, and something that feels especially rare within the same family. While I was in the hospital, Ben reached out to me with support and encouragement, something I will never forget. Just weeks before, he had participated in the Strides for Stroke walk, and I told him I would join him the following year. Sadly, Ben passed away later in 2025. This year, I am walking to keep that promise.

As I near one year in my own recovery, I carry with me the perspective of how difficult that road can be, and how much it matters to have someone who understands it.

We chose the name “Skol Squad” in honor of Ben’s love for the Minnesota Vikings, a small way to carry his spirit with us.

We Would Love for You to Join Us!
Walk with Team Skol Squad at Long Lake Park on May 16, wear purple or your favorite Vikings gear, and help us show up strong! If you are not able to attend, please consider supporting our team with a donation. Every contribution helps raise awareness and support for those affected by stroke. Thank you for being part of this with us.

Join this team

Team Members
Gabrielle Rodriguez –
